My truck looks like it was wired with a spool of red wire but there isn't really a lot going on. Do you think this'd be worth it?

besides the color is there anything wrong with what you have? It seems like your setup is simple enough to make this sort of thing not super necessary.

If it's a Painless kit, go for it. Anything else and I wouldn't bother.

I spent $500 on a full wiring kit from Painless that was designed for my car and it's still an involved process. I 'm not sure what a universal kit includes but I'd make sure that it's compatible with your steering column and ignition switch.
